E3 2019 is right around the corner and with it comes tons of new info on games we are looking forward to. Here are our top 10 games we expect to see at E3 2019.
Top 10 Games We Expect To See At E3 2019
Let’s kick this list off right with one of the most impressive titles of E3 2018, Cyberpunk 2077. With the masterminds behind The Witcher 3 at the helm, CD PROJEKT RED’s Cyberpunk 2077 aims to deliver an equally exciting world set in a dystopian future. The studio previously showed how players could customize their character, along with some combat, city exploration, and a drivable car. We hope to see something a bit more focused for E3 2019, including the choices and consequences one can make. One thing’s for certain: if a release date isn’t unveiled, Cyberpunk 2077 is slated to hit the next generation of consoles.
Animal Crossing Switch
Let’s take a 180 and look at our number nine pick, set in the cheerful world of Animal Crossing. Not much is known right now; Nintendo has said that it is coming this year, even as recently as April 25. If that is the case, bet on a big trailer at this year’s show. Their showing this year will likely include the new place we will call home, a look at old friends and new, a few different mini-games, and whatever the current gimmick will be. They will also remind players of Animal Crossing Pocket Camp, sparking all villagers to dive back in.
Gears Of War 5
Our number eight pick is one likely coming out this year: Gears of War 5. The first gameplay footage shown at E3 2018 provided a first look at the series’ new direction, moving from a third person cover based shooter to a more open world exploration one. Alongside a release date, the new trailer should hopefully showcase more gameplay and its co-op. Once it fades to black, however, we eagerly await at the real Xbox seller: Gears POP!
Did you forget about that? Because we didn’t.
Dragon Ball Project Z
Though we would expect to see it at Sony’s conference, our number seven pick goes to Dragon Ball Project Z. A first look was provided at the beginning of the year, along with a launch date of 2019. Not much is currently known, other than the fact that the focus will be on Goku and that it has its roots in the action RPG genre. We hope to see some more of the gameplay engine powering this title, and will hopefully see if any other Saiyans or Namekians will be playable. Despite all of this, after Xenoverse and Xenoverse 2, our expectations for this one may be too great.
Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order
After two canceled EA Star Wars projects, Respawn Entertainment takes the helm with their single player Star Wars adventure Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order. In the reveal trailer, players learned about the protagonist and the title’s place in canon. The chief complaint about the reveal, which we hope to see more of at E3, it its gameplay. Lightsaber action and force powers are both present and accounted for, but what type of gameplay will this title feature? Is it linear? Open world? Mission-based? EA knows, and we will find out soon.
Dying Light 2
Though we hoped to see it release in 2018, our number five pick goes to Dying Light 2. E3 2018 provided a solid look at the game, though no hands-on time was provided for us at the show. The original Dying Light was impressive, and Dying Light 2 looks to improve upon it with more zombies, more enemies, more weapons, and more RPG elements. Choices seem to be a significant factor in the game this time around, meaning you might take on the role of a leader. In the trailer this year, we expect to see a horde of zombies players can fight and a couple of new types of zombies as well. A release date is all but confirmed at this point too.
Final Fantasy 7 Remake
At number four we have Final Fantasy VII. After the latest Sony State Of Play, we were told to expect more info on this game in June. We expect to see it at the Square-Enix event, complete with one of Sony guys among them. A big focus of this year’s trailer will no doubt be the combat. Combat from the reveal did not look turn-based, much to the disappointment of fans. Whether it is turn-based or not at this point is a mystery, but E3 2019 should hope to answer that question. Expect a release date of 2020 at the end as well, because they already have a heavy hitter this year.
Number 3 is a game that is flying under a lot of peoples radar, and that is Biomutant. The game is set in a post-apocalyptic world where you play as a small mutant rat? Cat? Not sure what animal but you are small, and you can use guns, kung fu, and melee weapons. Though it has been flying under the radar for most people, the game has been shown multiple times at Pax and even recently at Pax East 2019. I actually expect to see this one get a trailer in the Nintendo Direct and a release date of 2020.
Number two is a game that has us intrigued: Halo Infinite. We can all agree that the last two Halo games were good, but not great. However, Infinite seems to be teasing something big and new. The trailer from last year provided a feeling of wonder and excitement to us. Is this going to be an open world Halo game where we explore planets and maybe Halo rings? We’re not sure, but we can tell you that we will see it this year. Gameplay will definitely be shown, and more info will be dropped about the game. Don’t expect a release date though – we feel this one needs more time in the cooker.
The Avengers Project
Remember that big game Square-Enix has planned for this year? That game is The Avengers Project, and it is our number one pick for the show. All we have had for this game so far is a reveal, which showed next to nothing. In 2019, The Avengers are bigger then ever, and if you aren’t putting The Avengers game out, then you are just straight up foolish. Though we expect something minor for the Final Fantasy VII remake, this trailer is going to be big. By the end, we will know how the game plays, what we will be doing, who we play as, and the release date. With some luck, people will get some hands-on time, and we will hear first hand if it is good or not.
