Today we have a new update for Tom Clancy’s The Division 2. Title Update 4 is the fourth major update since Massive Entertainment launched the game earlier this year and the first to add a new specialization. The game will receive three DLC episodes as part of its year-one roadmap, the first of which, DC Outskirts – Expeditions, is arriving this summer.

The Gunner is a minigun that joins the existing grenade launcher, crossbow, and heavy sniper rifle Specializations. Like the other three, the Gunner also comes with its own skill tree. The new Gunner specialization turns players into a walking tank with a big gun. It’s the first heavy weapon in the game and requires signature ammo, which can be earned by killing two enemies in one continuous burst. The minigun gives players a temporary boost in defense when its in use, while it rais down bullets upon targets for a short period of time. The “Banshee” signature skill causes confusion to enemies – even when they are behind cover – and the Gunner’s special riot-foam grenade temporarily stuns opponents hit by the explosion, leaving them open to attacks. The class is also capable of supplying teammates with extra ammo.

To unlock the Gunner, you have to complete the Special Field Research, five stages of challenges each with their own objectives and rewards, or buy The Division 2’s Year 1 Pass. Players who already own the Year 1 Pass will automatically unlock the new Specialization when they log in. They can still complete the Special Field Research challenges to unlock an assortment of exclusive cosmetics, including the following:

  • Fisticuffs and Front Flex emotes
  • Charcoal and Detritus gear dyes
  • Rosethorn and Pineapple weapon skins
  • Gunner mask and Gunner specialization uniform
