Dreams announces the end of its early access

Revealed in 2013, Dreams is currently still in development by Media Molécule. The game, which was originally due out in 2016, is taking longer than expected, since, after several postponements, it is now only in early access. However, the game, which is exclusive to the PS4, has been accessible to all since April 16, 2019, but not for long.

Indeed, Media Molecule has published a post announcing the end of the anticipated access to Dreams on the Playstation Blog. Although most of the time the end of early access is followed by the announcement of a release date, this is not the case here. Media Molecule simply announces that from 9 December at 00:59, the game will no longer be available for purchase. On the other hand, those who have bought it before that date will continue to be able to play the game without a problem, and they won’t have to pay a dime for the launch of the game.

Dreams is the kind of game that is difficult to summarize in just a few words as it is very rich. To put it simply, Dreams allows you, not just to play, but to create varied games. You also have the opportunity to share your creations and play games made by other players. The only limit is your imagination. You can create just about anything you can dream of, hence its name. The best way to get an idea of Dreams, if you hesitate to get it, is to take a look at the countless video games created by the community. You will even find games inspired by famous licenses, like Mario, Crash Bandicoot, or Minecraft.

Creating a game in Dreams

As for the future of Dreams, it still seems uncertain, as Media Molecule has still not announced an official release date. This is not very reassuring for those who remember Project Spark, a game more or less similar developed by Microsoft, which was finally abandoned in 2016. Fortunately, Dreams has today a strong community and a team that works hard to push the limits of Dreams ever further.

If you want to try the adventure, hurry up and get Dreams before December 9th.

Play Imperator: Rome for free this weekend

The establishment, rise, and fall of the Roman Empire mark one of the most important periods in history, having a great influence on the later evolution of the world where we live today. That is one of the reasons why it’s such a recurrent theme on video games, especially on the ones that belong to the strategy genre. The military strength of the Roman Empire was one of the reasons behind its expansion, allowing it to spread through Europe and maintain rigid control over the different provinces that formed it. Paradox Interactive made a great work representing the tumultuous period that preceded the establishment of the Roman Empire in Imperator: Rome.

The sequel to Europa Universalis: Rome puts you in charge of the creation of an empire. You will have to manage everything, from the characters that will lead your nation to the development of the diverse populations in your empire. Citizens, freemen, tribesmen, and slaves all are an important part of your empire and your success depends on them. Keeping them all happy won’t be an easy task but if you manage to do it will pay off in the long run, allowing you a bit more leeway when it comes to military decisions.

Overall, management is not too complex in Imperator: Rome, especially if you are a fan of the strategy genre, but if you have not experienced what it has to offer yet, it would be best if you give it a try for free before buying it. Rockstar announces a new Heist for GTA Online

If there is a game that has managed to maintain a stable player base over the years, that’s GTA Online. Rockstar has kept the game in shape with updates and extra content for years, but even the long break that preceded the release of the Diamond Casino & Resort last July couldn’t make a dent in the mood of the fans of the GTA series. The casino itself seems to be quite a juicy target if you take into account the amount of cash that it generates, so it’s natural that the upcoming DLC for GTA Online is coming in the form of The Diamond Casino Heist.

Branded as the biggest and most audacious heist in the long history of GTA, The Diamond Casino Heist will be a real challenge for the players, and they will have to be thoroughly prepared before they attempt to challenge the security measures of the Los Santos’s casino. You will have to work with the Cheng family to infiltrate the building in a mission that will prove to be really hard. To begin the heist, you and your crew will have to establish a retro arcade business as a front for the operation. From there, you will lay down a propper plan, exploring all the different approach opportunities and following your schedule without failure is the bare minimum that you will have to do. Reacting to the unexpected will be a must if you want to be successful and leave the place alive and with plenty of loot for your trouble. Remember that if everything fails, you always have the option of pulling out your guns and try to escape with a bang.

The Diamond Casino Heist will be the seventh heist in the online multiplayer mode of Grand Theft Auto V, adding to a list that includes The Fleeca Job, The Prison Break, The Humane Labs Break, Series A Funding, The Pacific Standard and The Doomsday Heist. More information about the heist will be available once before it’s released next Thursday, 12th December, on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.

Gears 5 – Operation 2: Free for All is coming soon

After it was released in September, Gears 5 has continued to keep players interested by adding more content. Received enthusiastically by the players, this is the second title of the series that has been developed by The Coalition, and the first one to be called simply Gears, although it is part of the Gears of War series. It also is the first game from Xbox Games studio to be fully accessible to people with disabilities, an initiative that deserves to be commended.

But let’s move on, what interests us today is, of course, the imminent release of Operation 2, which will arrive on December 11th. The first one was launched in October, and it added four new characters to the game among other things.

This new Operation, called Operation 2: Free for All, announces the arrival of a Free for All mode as the name suggests. It is defined as the “greatest versus mode” in the history of the series. It will challenge 14 players in a merciless fight, in which the winner will be the one who gets to 30 kills first. Free for All will be launched as a playlist and it will be converted in a Ranked mode in the month of January. Free for All also comes with three dedicated maps: Pit, Core, and Nethercutt.

A new arcade mode, Arcade Blitz will also make its appearance, and it’s a fast-paced version of “king of the hill”. The 2v2 Gnashers mode will also be included in the update. It features two new maps: Boxes and Foundation Mid, in which you will have to stick together with your teammate to dominate the opposing duo.

In addition to this, four new characters, including two heroes, Lizzie Carmine and Damon Baird, as well as two villains, Jermad and the Drone Locust, will join those already present in Gears 5. On the other hand, Mac, Keegan, and Lanhi will be playable in Horde mode, and Marcus in Escape mode.

Gears 5 – Operation 2, Lizzie

Finally two new maps, Allfathers Arena and Lift will be added too, as well as 27 tiles for the creation of maps in Escape mode. Many rewards are also attainable during Operation 2 and there are plenty of daily missions. To know more about the contents of Operation 2: Free for All you can visit the official Gears 5 website at this address.

With all these additions, Gears 5 players have enough content to be busy for a while. If you do not have the game yet, do not hesitate to visit our comparator.

Dead Cells’ first paid DLC is coming early 2020

Dead Cells is one of the best indie action games released in recent years. The roguelike-metroidvania game developed by Motion Twin allows players to dash through an endless labyrinth of procedurally-generated levels fighting against enemies and gathering items and cells to empower themselves. Permanent dead, deadly enemies and deadly bosses complete a game with very solid gameplay that delights all the fans of the action dungeon crawlers. Dead Cells is getting its first paid DLC very soon, called The Bad Seed.

The Bad Seed expands the content in Dead Cells with two new biomes for the players to explore. The Arboretum is a lush paradise to deceivingly adorable creatures, where hidden threats may end your adventure abruptly if you are not very careful. The Swamp is full of deadly insects and savage mutant tribesmen who are not too fond of strangers visiting their territory. Traversing those two new areas will be quite challenging, especially when you get to face the final boss that is waiting for you at the end of each of them. The DLC also includes a lot of surprises and the first double-slot weapon, a deadly scythe able to cut through hordes of enemies.

Fortunately, the launch of the first paid DLC for Dead Cells doesn’t mean that the developers won’t be releasing more free content for the game, or that’s what the developers have stated, promising free content, balancing, and systemic updates for the game in the future.

Dead Cells already received extra free content with the Rise of the Giant DLC, which included new levels, bosses, enemies, weapons, skills and more, adding a new level of complexity to the game.

Keep in mind that Dead Cells is one of those challenging games where you will be banging your head against a wall, and unless you are skilled enough to claim victory, you will have to start all over from the beginning every time you die.

Destiny 2 Season of Dawn’s roadmap has been revealed

Bungie is at full throttle since they abandoned Activision’s platform and released Destiny 2 on Steam. The change in the monetization model with the release of the free-to-play version of the game a the launch of the new Destiny 2: Shadowkeep expansion have had a very positive effect in Destiny 2. Having more freedom about how, when, and what to release means that Bungie can be a lot more flexible and adapt to what the players want and the formula seems to be working very well. Proof of that is that Bungie has revealed the roadmap for the new season of Destiny 2, which is called Season of Dawn.

The Season of Dawn starts on December 10th and it marks the return of the powerful titan Saint-14. During the previous season, we could fight against the Vex, but the Red Legion has not been idle and they have discovered a way to manipulate time. That means more work for the guardians who will be visiting Mercury in order to deal with old problems and enemies in new different ways. Stopping the group that is trying to undo the outcome of your past battle against the Red Legion will be your main priority during the Season of the Dawn. To achieve this goal, you will have to help Osiris to fix the timeline by restoring Obelisks on four destinations. While you do so, you will have access to a seasonal artifact, the Lantern of Osiris, which you will be able to upgrade to increase your power and unlock seasonal mods. The Season of Dawn also comes with plenty of seasonal rewards, which include the Exotic Scout Rifle, Symmetry, and the Righteous seasonal armor set for all the players to unlock.

The development of In the Valley of Gods has been suspended

Developed by the Campo Santo studio, Firewatch is a game that you’ll love for sure if you’re a fan of narrative adventures. Since 2017, the studio is working on a new game that should be pretty similar called In The Valley of Gods. A trailer announcing a release for the year 2019 had been published, but it seems that the game will not see the day anytime soon, and the reason is no other than another recently announced game, Half-Life: Alyx.

The development of In the Valley of Gods is indeed suspended for the moment, but to be absolutely fair Half-Life: Alyx is not the only responsible. Campo Santo was bought in 2018 by Valve, and it turns out that a number of key members of the studio have been somehow requisitioned to work on Valve’s next game. The fans of Firewatch, which have been eagerly awaiting In The Valley of Gods for a while, were the ones that first detected that something was happening. Some of them noticed that several people working on the project had withdrawn any reference to the game in their respective twitter bios last month. The doubts of the fans are confirmed today, since Jake Rodkin co-founder of the original studio, expressed himself on this subject in an interview granted to Polygon:

“For fans waiting for In the Valley of Gods, it’s probably clear that the optimistic “2019” at the end of the announcement trailer will not be realistic. In the end, Valve Time makes fun of us all. But yes, the developers of the former Campo Santo team have joined other projects at Valve, including Half-Life: Alyx “

In The Valley of Gods

He nuances everything by stating that. Even if this suspension of the development is regrettable, being part of Valve offers tremendous opportunities. In The Valley of Gods is not canceled at the moment, just on a break. We hope that this break will not be a final one and that development will resume one day or another so that we can enjoy this narrative adventure game.

Pillars of Eternity II is coming to consoles

Obsidian Entertainment managed to reinvent the wheel when they launched Pillars of Eternity. Tasked with the very complicated mission of creating a role-playing game inspired by one of the most popular games of all time, the developers managed to design a game that is both a spiritual successor of Baldur’s Gate and completely different in the gameplay mechanics. The setting of Pillars of Eternity series has no relation with Dungeons and Dragons and the way the stat system works has absolutely nothing to do with the system used in the classic games.

Even though some players may have had some difficulty grasping the new concept, Obsidian has done a brilliant job creating a new universe that was a big hit among the fans of the genre. The original Pillars of Eternity was first followed by The White March expansion, which came in two parts that greatly expanded the content in the game. Later on, we would see Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire, a sequel that continues the story in the first game, allowing us to explore a pirate-infested archipelago as we chase a revived God.

With new characters and plenty of lands and quests to discover, Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire is a worthy successor of the original game, and it was received very well by the players. There is even an Ultimate Edition that includes all the extra contents released for the game after it was launched, and this edition is exactly what the console players will be able to experience when Pillar of Eternity II: Deadfire is made available for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on January 28, 2020. There is also a version for Nintendo Switch coming in the future, but no release date has been confirmed for it. Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire is a very good way of quenching your thirst for good role-playing games while you wait to see what Baldur’s Gate III has to offer, and you can find the best prices with our comparator.

Starship Troopers is getting a RTS game

The cult sci-fi film Starship Troopers shares its name with the novel written by Robert A. Heinlein in 1959, and even though it is a bit more satyrical and less critic than the original novel, it still managed to become quite popular. The story of Johnny Rico as he joins the military and his adventures in the war between the Mobile Infantry and the alien race known as the Bugs were also used as inspiration for the creation of a first-person shooter also called Starship Troopers, which was released in 2005. Quite unexpectedly, it seems that the franchise is getting another video game in the future because Slitherine has just announced the real-time strategy game called Starship Troopers: Terran Command.

Starship Troopers: Terran Command is based on the universe shown in the movie and it will put you in control of the Mobile Infantry during the war against the Arachnid threat. In your attempt to save humanity you will have to make the best use of your units to counter the almost unlimited number of troops that the aliens can deploy.

You will have a wide range of troops at your disposal, from infantry units armed with Morita Assault Rifles and MX-90 Fragmentation Grenades to engineers capable of deploying turrets and mines. As the campaign progresses you will develop technology to upgrade your troops with new weaponry which, at the same time, will open a variety of new strategic options to you.

Starship Troopers: Terran Command – Bugs assaulting a MI outpost

According to Iain McNeil, development director at Slitherine, Starship Troopers: Terran Command wants to stay as true as possible to the movie:

“We aimed to capture the essence of the original movie and its universe. This is not only achieved by creating a coherent set of units and scenarios, but also by mimicking the language, visual elements, dialogues, and the little details that made the film such an iconic, cult feature.”

With dynamically generated campaigns, Starship Troopers: Terran Command promises high replayability that will keep the fans of the genre and the movie glued to their PCs for long hours. The game will be released next year, but an accurate release date has not been revealed yet.
