Gears 5 will introduce Operations as post-launch content

The release date of Gears 5 is almost here, and even though we have already seen quite a lot of the new features that the game will have at launch, many of us were wondering about its longevity. There are some people that are not really into multiplayer modes and once they finish the main campaign they feel like if it was game over for them. The latest video in Gears 5 Youtube channel introduces what will be the developers’ way of expanding the game content after launch: Operations.

Operations will be content drops for Gears 5 that will come out every three months. They will be updates that will add new gameplay modes, map, characters, customization options, and more. With them, the game will turn into a sort of live-service that will continue steadily supplying content for the players.

Along with the new content, each new Operation will refresh the Gears 5’s Tour of Duty, which is a sort of Battle Pass that includes a series of limited-time challenges, achievements, and objectives that will allow players to unlock seasonal content in the form of weapon skins, executions, emotes and other cosmetic items. Keep in mind that the Tour of duty will take into account all gameplay modes, not only multiplayer ones, so if you are one of those that prefer to avoid PvP you will still be getting rewards. All these additions will contribute to keeping the game fresh, and the best thing of all is that you won’t have to pay extra for them: Operations will be free for all the players that own Gears 5.

Those that enjoy the competitive side of things will be glad to know that there will also be Masters and Seasonal leaderboards that will allow you to measure your achievements and compare them with the ones of other players from all over the world.

If you have bought the Gears 5 Ultimate Edition you can enjoy the game starting tomorrow. Otherwise, it will be available September 10 on PC and Xbox One.

Deadly Premonition 2: A Blessing in Disguise Announced

During the Nintendo Direct earlier today, Rising Star Games and TOYBOX announced that Deadly Premonition 2: A Blessing in Disguise will come out for the Nintendo Switch in 2020.

An open-world game set in Le Carré, this title starts players in Boston. While there, FBI Special Agent Francis York Morgan from the original is tasked with revisiting the case he solved back in 2005. Throughout the game, players will jump between 2005 and 2019.

Scriptwriter/Director Swery will make his return for the title, along with Producer Tomio Kanazawa. Art Direction will be fielded by Shuhou Imai, and the music composition is being handled by Satoshi Okubo.

You can view a trailer below (courtesy of GameXplain):

Deadly Premonition Origins & 2 – Nintendo Switch Reveal Trailer (Nintendo Direct)

According to TOYBOX COO and Producer Tomio Kanazawa:

“After completing the Director’s Cut, Swery and I discussed in-depth about the ways we could continue the world of Deadly Premonition. In reaching here, we shared some laughter together and at times quarreled, but we persisted with our voyage and I am thrilled that we finally made it to this point.”

Brjánn Sigurgeirsson of Rising Star Games, added:

“Only a few games have managed to stir up emotions the way the original Deadly Premonition did. Ten years later we’re literally thrilled to continue down this path to find out where Swery and his team take us.”

Finally, Swery had to say the following:

“Roughly 10 years have passed since the original was released in 2010. Now, a miracle has happened, and I have a chance to reunite with my best friend – something I never thought would be possible. I’m working hard day and night while also looking back on the past to make sure this becomes something that doesn’t change no matter how much time passes, while also adapting to and interlocking with the current era – a game that encompasses all. Please get yourself a cup of coffee and wait for it to be completed!”

Overwatch is coming next month to Nintendo Switch

It will be announced during the Nintendo Direct today buy a series of leaks that have been appearing in the last couple of days confirm that Blizzard Entertainment’s FPS will be available next month on Nintendo’s hybrid console. It seems that keeping a secret is rather difficult when people are eager to sell their products and this time we have seen an Overwatch-themed case for Nintendo Switch on Amazon as well as other sources from several video games-related news sites that point to the game launching on October 18th in Europe.

Overwatch was launched in 2016 and since then it’s been playable on all platforms but Nintendo Switch. Blizzard’s Jeff Kaplan addressed the possibility of the game coming to Nintendo Switch back in 2017 but it has taken a while to finish the port. Now all Nintendo fans will be able to take part in thrilling PvP matches across different arenas in Overwatch.

This new version of Overwatch for Nintendo Switch may include some extras or even a special event may be held when it releases, but we won’t know a thing about all that until tonight. On the other hand, we can expect that Overwatch will include everything that has been released on other platforms, with all the 31 heroes in the roster being available to play, including the recently released Sigma.

Today’s Nintendo Direct will start tonight at 12 am CEST and it will showcase various announcements regarding what’s going to happen with Nintendo Switch and its games in the following months. You can watch it below when the time comes but don’t worry if you miss it because we will keep you updated with any relevant information in DLCompare’s news blog, as usual.

Gears 5 Review – Absolutely Badass

Welcomed faces and all-too-familiar foes return to the battlefield with The Coalition’s release of the highly anticipated Gears 5. Stepping away from Gears of War 4’s protagonist, this new adventure focuses on Kait Diaz’s journey to uncover the true nature of the fearsome Locust forces and the truth of her very own origin story. Promising to deliver the franchise’s famous, visceral combat alongside the new additions of open-world exploration, co-op campaign, and a flurry of multiplayer modes, Gears 5 hopes to bring the franchise to new heights. Does it meet the mark?

Gears 5 Review

Gears 5 wastes little time before it blows you away, and I don’t mean with grenades and chainsaw bayonets. As we near the end of the current console generation, it can sometimes be difficult to push the envelope of aesthetics, as expectations continue to rise but the consoles capabilities do not. However, it seems someone forgot to tell the developers. Gears 5 is the most beautiful and most visually impressive game I’ve played all year, with everything from environments to facial animations executed to a level of detail and quality seldom seen in the shooter space.

Crazy weather effects tossing huge rocks across the landscape, fiery tornadoes kicking up a storm, a character’s face damp with tears – it comes together in a visual package that delivers a level of awe and immersion that wonderfully compliments its overall narrative.

As someone that’s been absent from the Gears franchise for many a year, I went into Gears 5 a little unprepared in the overarching story department. I had a brief understanding of the events leading up to Gears 5, but not with the same level of understanding I have with the earlier games in the series. The game does feature a couple of vignettes to bring players up to speed, filling in holes and adding depth to characters previously unexplored.

I thoroughly enjoyed the narrative on offer throughout the Gears 5 campaign, but I have no doubt there’s much more on offer here for veterans of the franchise. The story follows Kait Diaz with many familiar faces donning main and supportive roles, as she journeys deeper into her past, the Locust, and the Locust Queen Myrrah. It’s a gritty, often dark story that delivers a thrilling story-driven campaign with many twists, turns, and thought-provoking scenarios.

The story itself pales in comparison to the characters, expertly brought to life with stellar performances across the cast. It’s difficult to truly deliver emotions in characters, at least in a visual sense. Facial animations, tears, it’s not something easily delivered but Gears 5 does just that: it delivers. Many of the games moments really invoke true emotion but not in the detached sense, you’re not feeling these feelings on behalf of these characters, you’re feeling it as these characters. Truly immersing the player in the Gears 5 narrative makes an otherwise decent story absolutely fantastic.

For the first time in its celebrated history, Gears 5 takes the battle up a scale. One could say they stepped it up a gear. Gears 5 features two sprawling open-world environments – one being a tundra like region in the North, and the other a parched and barren desert with blood red sands. Each …

Cyberpunk 2077 will have multiplayer at some point after launch

It’s been the first question that all of us came up with when Cyberpunk 2077 was announced, is it a multiplayer game? In fact, the dream of many of us would have become true if it was an MMORPG. CD Projekt Red has been avoiding answering that question for a while, but today, at last, we have the confirmation: Cyberpunk 2077 will have a multiplayer mode, and it’s already in the works. Unfortunately, it won’t be ready by the release date of the game, and we will have to wait for a while before we get to play it.

CD Projekt Red has chosen Twitter to reveal all that, and it has taken advantage of the opportunity to reveal a bit of the planned schedule for Cyberpunk 2077 after launch.

Cyberpunk 2077 launches in April 2020. After that, we will get a couple of free DLCs and then they will focus on the multiplayer aspect of the game. We are guessing that we may see multiplayer mode by the end of 2020 or maybe in 2021. A similar thing happened with Red Dead Redemption 2. The single-player portion was released first, and a few months later we could enjoy the multiplayer component of the game, Red Dead Online.

So far, CD Project Red is well known for its excellent single-player games; you can take a look at The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt if you want proof of that. It is yet to be revealed what kind of approach will the developers take regarding the multiplayer mode in Cyberpunk 2077. If we consider what we know about the game so far, there is more than enough potential for it in the form of cooperative missions, but it would be great to see some kind of PvP. Playing as mercs hired by enemy factions to achieve objectives that oppose each other would be quite interesting and opens a world of possibilities.

Cyberpunk 2077 – Having friends as a backup is always nice

Things are definitely getting more and more interesting as the release date of Cyberpunk 2077 gets closer, and we know more information about one of the most anticipated games coming next year.
