Funcom has a lot of experience with mystery games. After all, they are the creators of The Secret World, an MMORPG that is set in a world shaped by intrigue, conspiracy, and mystery. It’s the perfect setting for horror adventures and knowing that, Funcom and Rock Pocket Games are bringing us Moons of Madness, a game that will take us to the red planet to explore its dark side.

In Moons of Madness, you are Shane Newehart, an engineer from Orochi that is stationed in a secret base that the corporation has established on Mars. The Trailblazer Alpha outpost was built as a result of the reception of a mysterious signal coming from Mars, but your security clearance isn’t high enough, and you are completely oblivious about all this. One day, while you are performing technical duties you notice that the number of strange failures seems to be unusually high, and things get really awkward when the rest of your team has not returned from their EVA mission and the greenhouse starts filling with a green mist.

Finding yourself alone in Mars under strange circunstances wouldn’t be that bad if it wasn’t because your only way of escaping this situation is waiting until the transport ship Cyrano arrives bringing with it a new team to take over your duties. But loneliness makes a dent in the most hardened personalities, and in Moons of Madness you will be put in a situation where you will be doubting if what you see is true or just hallucinations. Facing isolation while you explore the darker side of the red planet while you are assaulted by terrifying visions and monstrous apparitions is bad enough, but the uncertainty about the existence of a cosmic horror that threatens reality itself behind all this could really drive you insane.
