After introducing Moze the Gunner not too long ago, Gearbox Software has decided to let us finally know about Zane Flynt the Operative, another of the four Vault Hunters that will be playable in Borderlands 3. It´s true that Moze does not have a profile video like the one that was just published for Zane, but we could see her and her mech Iron Bear obliterating enemies in a gameplay video that was shown at the E3. As you can see in the video below, Flynt is a completely different type of character.

Zane seems to be the kind of guy that does whatever is needed to finish a mission. Even though his combat abilities are not explained in the video, we already know that he can unlock three different active abilities as he levels up and progresses through the different skill trees. In previous Borderlands games, each character had only one active ability, and it could be somewhat modified through the skill trees. In Borderlands 3 each of the three skill trees that each character has available grants them a different active ability and they will be able to swap between them.

Hitman skill tree grants Zane the SNTNL ability, which spawns a drone that will fight alongside him. While the drone is active, you can activate the ability again to make it attack whatever you are targeting. The other skills in this tree are focused on improving Zane´s SNTNL, adding Cryo Damage to the pair and boosting Zane’s performance in several ways.

Doubled Agent grants Zane an active skill that will remind you of Jack and Zero. The ability spawns a stationary Digi-clone that will shoot at enemies, but if you activate the ability again while the clone is up Zane will swap positions with it. The other skills int he tree boost the clone and add extra effects when Zane and the clone swap positions.

Under Cover will let Zane spawn a barrier similar to the ones that Axton can get on his turrets. This version is like a shield that he can either deploy or pick up and carry, protecting him from incoming projectiles and allowing him to shoot through it for extra damage. This tree also provides Zane a few boosts that he can share with nearby friends through the use of the barrier.

As you can see, Zane is quite a versatile character whose skills will allow for very different gameplay styles. The combination of very powerful active skills and a preference for Cryo Damage leaves us with a well-rounded character that will be a great asset to a group of players whether he plays offensively or defensively.

Borderlands 3 – Amara, Fl4k, Moze and Zane

We expect to see the videos of Moze the Gunner, Amara the Siren, and Fl4k the Beastmaster very soon to learn more about them. Borderlands 3 is launching on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on September 13 so there is enough time for Gearbox to show us a bit more of the game.
