Unveiled a few days ago at the Gamescom 2019, Little Nightmares 2 has created a surprise among players. Just like the first Little Nightmares, the game is developed by Tarsiers Studios, to whom we also owe the Little Big Planet series released by Bandai Namco.
In the first installment, we played as Six, a girl trapped in the Den, a strange boat-hotel for the rich which dreams only of one thing, devouring them. Six does not have any power or special ability and to escape from the Den the player can only rely on his gray matter to solve puzzles, while not letting himself be overwhelmed by his fears.
Little Nightmares 2 is going to follow the same line. After the trailer unveiled at the Gamescom, we have learned more about the game through a developer interview by Gaming Boulevard. In the trailer, we have seen that after having managed to escape the Den, Six will have to explore the outside world but she will not be alone. Indeed, a new character called Mono makes his appearance and it is also him that we will control in Little Nightmares 2.
Mono and Six can interact to overcome obstacles or face their enemies but Six will be controlled by an AI. She may be asked to perform certain tasks, such as activate a mechanism, so she will obviously not be a completely passive character. She may judge that some actions are irrelevant, and may even take the lead sometimes.

Another question to which this interview responds is about the game in co-op. With two characters, we could expect that it would be possible for two people to play, but it will not be the case. That’s what the developers said about it:
“We had considered coo-op in the beginning, as there are two characters, but that would have been a bad choice.”
The reason given is that Little Nightmares 2, like its predecessor, plays on the player’s fears, often inspired by childhood, and maintains a permanent tension. allowing two players would have somewhat distorted this atmosphere. The game should, however, have new features, and we should learn more about the world in which Little Nightmares 2 takes place.
No release date has been confirmed but we know that the game will be released in 2020. Little Nightmares 2 will be released on all platforms at once, so Switch players will not have to wait longer than others this time.
