You already know it if you have been following us. Epic Games Store has been giving games for free through the whole year, one or two every week. But to celebrate holidays they have increased those numbers significantly, offering a different game every day for twelve consecutive days to anyone that cared to log on their platform and claim them. The promotion started on December 19 and the list of games that have been handed out for free includes Into the Breach, TowerFall Ascension, Superhot, Little Inferno, Ape Out, Celeste, Totally Accurate Battle Simulator, and FTL: Faster Than Light. It is not that they are AAA titles, but there are some really good games on the list and they were free.

Epic Games Store Free Games

The same happens with the one available today, Hyper Light Drifter. It is one of the games that was free earlier this year and if you missed the chance to get it you can do it now. Hyper Light Drifter is a 2D action role-playing game that pays homage to the 16-bit classics with its graphics rendered in a pixelated style. The protagonist of the story, the Drifter, is afflicted with a strange illness and he will have to travel through the Lands of Buried Time in search of a cure. He is armed with a gun and an energy sword which he can use to perform basic combat movements. As he progresses through the game and defeats different bosses, he will be able to discover a series of batteries which can be used to unlock powerful weapons and skills.

Hyper Light Drifter is only available for free until tomorrow when it will be replaced by another free game on Epic Games Store. We do not know yet which game it will be, so make sure to check later than 5 pm CEMT tomorrow to find out if it’s interesting for you.
