Originally making its debut during last week’s PlayStation 5 reveal event, learn more about Sony Interactive Entertainment and Guerrilla Games’ Horizon Forbidden West with the latest interview spotlight for the title.

Game Director Mathijs de Jonge shares new insight into this open-world action RPG. Taking place in the distant future, players will once again take control of Aloy, who is a hunter of the Nora Tribe. She is on a quest to solve mysteries and secrets that could very well change her life forever.

Jonge mentions how the title “Forbidden West” refers to a mysterious new frontier that stretches from Utah to the Pacific Ocean. With the additional power the PlayStation 5 console provides, the development team was able to achieve their vision of creating a beautiful world that is more vibrant, detailed, and immersive. He also mentioned how there will be virtually no loading screens, since it will utilize the PlayStation 5’s SSD.

For the sequel to 2017’s Horizon Zero Dawn, Jonge mentions how they wanted to go wider and deeper, making the map a bit bigger in the process. Lakes and rivers can be explored, and players can come across dozens of new machines and tribes along their journey in the Forbidden West.
