Studio Head Chris Lee announced on Twitter today that Halo Infinite will be delayed to 2021.

In a statement made by Lee, he mentions that the delay was done to make sure the team has adequate time to deliver a Halo experience that meets their vision. He goes on to mention that there have been a number of development challenges as well, including the ongoing COVID-related impacts that have been affecting us all this year.

Following the story found in Halo 5: Guardians, 343 Industries’ Halo Infinite will continue the story of the Master Chief, serving as the third chapter of the “Reclaimer Saga.” Recent news regarding the title states that the game’s multiplayer portion would be released as a free-to-play game, and that the title will feature split-screen gameplay once more.

In regard to the soundtrack of the title Gareth Coker (Ori and the Blind Forest, Ori and the Will of the Wisps) will serve as one of Halo Infinite’s three composers, along with both Curtis Schweitzer and Joel Corelitz.

The game will come out for the Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC.
