Total War: Warhammer 2 is one of the games that best represents the world of the tabletop miniature game from Games Workshop. Strategic real-time battles where armies formed by fantastic creatures and troops of all kinds follow the commands of their generals to achieve victory have never been reproduced with such detail. It doesn’t matter which faction and leader you choose to play, each of them has it’s own strengths and weaknesses and you will have to master the positioning and movements of the units in your army if you want to achieve victory with minimum losses.

Total War: Warhammer 2 is slightly different from its previous installment in the series because it focuses on the New World and the control of the Great Vortex. On the other hand, Total War: Warhammer is about conquering the Old World. If you own both Total War: Warhammer and Total War: Warhammer 2 you can download the Mortal Empires DLC for free. It adds a large-scale campaign that covers both continents and where the Great Vortex is not the main focus. You will be able to battle for conquering the whole world in a colossal campaign that can include up to 117 different factions and 35 legendary lords.

Even with all those boons, Total War: Warhammer 2 has a certain type of battles that always feel rather dull compared to the others, and that is the castle sieges. Whether you are on the attacking side or on the defending side it feels monotonous to assault the walls until you can destroy the defenders or making arrows and catapult projectiles rain on the attackers. It’s pretty much over when the attackers penetrate the walls. In an attempt to change that Creative Assembly is adding the forts as a free update for Mortal Empires.

Forts add a new difficulty layer to sieges in Total War: Warhammer 2. This new type of settlement used to defend strategic locations. They are sort of multi-layered defensive citadels that you can improve with weapons and troops, creating almost impregnable bastions where waves of enemy troops will crash. You will find a real challenge in sieges once you breach the outer walls and that will make the game even more interesting.

Total War: Warhammer 2 – One of the impressive new forts

Along with this free update, Total War: Warhammer 2 is also getting a new paid DLC that will add two new legendary lords to the game on September 11. Markus Wulfhart, the Hunstmarshal of Emperor Karl Franz, and Nakai The Wanderer, revered Kroxigor of the first-spawning, are coming to the game with brand new troops and unique gameplay mechanics in Total War: Warhammer 2 – The Huner & the Beast DLC.
