Final Fantasy XIV: Shadowbringers, the third expansion of Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn will launch on July 2, 2019, but if you preorder you can get in early starting on June 28. All preorders come with the Baby Gremlin Minion and Aetheryte Earring (which offers a 30% EXP bonus up to level 70).

This expansion will pick up where Stormblood ended, with Zenos Yae Galvus, the final boss of Stormblood, so expect an epic battle between him and your character that possibly will trigger an apocalyptic calamity. You will travel to the First, an alternate dimension from Eorzea, where light has overcome darkness, disrupting the balance. To save the First, you must become a Warrior of Darkness and restore that balance. Minfilia, a young girl under the protection of Thancred, will appear with several other recurring characters that will also be taking on new jobs or intriguing new titles.

Final Fantasy XIV: Shadowbringers also includes tweaks to existing jobs, the game’s battle system, and the UI, as well as better pet controls, the possibility of removing main attribute materia and the introduction of a better-defined interrupt system. Every job has been looked at – Machinist is to be completely reworked, for instance – while all healers and tanks have been balanced. Side quests in Shadowbringers’ regions will be level-synced to have more ways to gain experience when leveling additional jobs. Meanwhile, FATEs will offer extra rewards in addition to experience points. You can acquire unique tokens that can be spent at region-specific vendors to purchase minions, items, crafting materials, and orchestrion rolls.

Two new jobs and two new races will be added in this expansion. The Viera, a rabbit-like and female only people, and the Hrothgar race, fierce beasts that are male only,  will join the multitude of races to choose from in the game.

TheGunbreaker is a tank in plate armor, master of the Gunblade. You’ll have a single target and area of effect rotation for tanking, in addition to other damage mitigation skills. As a unique mechanic, you can load cartridges into your Gunblade after completing certain attack combos. These can then be unloaded to weave in several special attacks during combat to dish out more damage or help you hold aggro better.

The Dancer is a ranged DPS that also can play a support role. Mini-games that task you with matching dance moves on the screen will activate your buffs. You can partner with other group members to share those benefits as well as other temporary boons that can improve damage, defense, and more.

As you can see Final Fantasy XIV: Shadowbringers is bringing a lot of nice changes and improvements to the game, and we bet that it will also be full of surprises for both new and old players.
