In the beginning, Resident Evil 2 Reborn was a fan-made project that aimed to create a modernized version of the classic survival-horror title from Capcom. There was no problem with that until Capcom announced its own official Resident Evil 2 remake and then the fans that had gathered to form Invader Studio decided to turn their first game into something different. That’s how Daymare: 1998 has come to life.

Invader Studio has put a lot of efforts into making Daymare: 1998 something different to Resident Evil 2, but making comparisons is unavoidable if you know where the game is coming from. A facility infected by a biological agent, puzzles, inventory management… All those are things that both games share, but despite the common things, Daymare: 1998 is not Resident Evil 2, and even if it can feel quite familiar, it still manages to deliver a great survival horror experience that the fans of the genre will love.

Daymare: 1998 – This is not Raccoon City

Daymare: 1998 follows the story of an elite soldier, a helicopter pilot, and a forest ranger as they are sent to investigate an incident with an experimental chemical weapon in a military facility. As the story progresses tension will escalate and you will discover that the inhabitants of the nearby town have been transformed into something quite different from peaceful bystanders.

Scarcity of resources, bloodthirsty monsters, and environmental puzzles are some of the features that give shape to Daymare: 1998, a title where the enemies you face really feel like a threat, and you will be immersed in an oppressive atmosphere that perfectly recreates the iconic horror titles from the ’90s.

You can check out by yourself everything that Daymare: 1998 has to offer. There is a demo available on Steam that you can download and play for free, but if you decide to buy the game just visit our comparator to find the best price. Daymare: 1998 is available on PC but we should see console versions in the future.
