CD Project RED has dropped a bomb. The launch of Cyberpunk 2077 will not be happening on April 16th like it was originally planned. Instead, the release date for the game has been moved back, and it’s not just a few days. The new release date for Cyberpunk 2077 is September 17. The announcement has been made through a tweet on the official account of the game and it has left all of the players that were eagerly waiting for the release of the game quite disappointed.

The futuristic first-person role-playing game from the creators of The Witcher series is one of the most anticipated games of the year if not the most. Its popularity has been escalating since it was originally announced. One of the reasons behind this is the awesome work that the developers did with The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, which has become one of the best RPG ever made, getting many awards including the Game of the Year. Also, it turns out that the Cyberpunk genre has a lot of fans, and although we have seen some good games belonging to the genre lately, like the ones in the Shadowrun series, a big AAA title was still needed. Other than that, the more information has been revealed about the game, the more attention Cyberpunk 2077 has got from the players. The excitement about the game probably reached its peak when Keanu Reeves appeared during E3 2019 to announce the game, revealing that he would be one of the characters.

Since that moment, the popularity of the game has skyrocketed and we also have been able to watch a few gameplay videos that show many of the features in the game.

The announcement of the delay has surprised everyone, even more since one of the last news that we had about Cyberpunk 2077 is that CD Projekt RED was contemplating a multiplayer mode for the game. Although it was confirmed that this would only happen at some point after the release of the game, probably at some point in 2021, it opened a whole world of possibilities for the game that left all the fans amazed. Therefore, nobody expected the announced postponement. On the good side of things, given the huge expectation that Cyberpunk 2077 has created, if the developers had launched a game that failed to satisfy the players CD Projekt RED would lose all the credit that they have gained with their previous games. If the game is not ready it’s just better not to launch it.

All we can do until September is hoping that there will not be more delays. And don’t worry, no matter when Cyberpunk 2077 is released you will always find the best prices on DLCompare.
