Bandai Namco must be quite happy because of the very positive reception that the players have given Code Vein. Their action role-playing game is showing very good numbers after it was released last Friday, especially on Steam. Many people have compared this game with the original Dark Souls, and even if the gameplay of both has some similarities it seems that Code Vein is doing as well as From Software’s adventure, reaching 33,804 concurrent players, just a couple of days after its release. Maybe even better, if you consider that to reach those numbers you have to count in Dark Soul and Dark Souls – Prepare to Die edition.

We don’t know if the dystopian universe of Code Vein and its vampire-like Revenants are more appealing to the players than the minimalist storytelling from Dark Souls, but the RPG developed by the creators of the God Eater saga is doing quite well so far.

Despite the comparisons between both games, Code Vein offers you challenging combat and the possibility of teaming up with an AI-controlled character or another player for cooperative gameplay. The use of diverse “Gifts” to empower your combat skills and blood draining weapons opens up a plethora of strategies in combat against the Lost.

If you add to those features a detailed character creation tool and a thrilling story that will get you embarked on a journey to recover your lost memories and discover what lies behind the current state of the world, Code Vein turns out to be a great adventure with its own style that has nothing to envy from other games of the genre.
