5 Games We’re Looking Forward to in October

People the world over might be getting ready for Halloween this month, but there are plenty of games to gear up for as well. On that note, we at Gamers Heroes take a look at 5 games we’re looking forward to in October. Oh, and we won’t make you click through five pages to look at the entire list.

5 Games We’re Looking Forward to in October

MediEvil

Sir Daniel Fortesque is getting a new lease on life with the release of Other Ocean and Sony Interactive Entertainment’s MediEvil remake. To aid players on their quest, weaponry like enchanted swords, gigantic hammers, throwing knives, and crossbows are all at your fingertips. To go alongside this action, this title has received a complete graphical overhaul, a number of improvements to the camera system, and narration done by Lani Minella. We’re looking forward to jumping into this adventure once again.

MediEvil will come out for the PlayStation 4 on October 25.

Luigi’s Mansion 3

Next Level Games and Nintendo are teaming up to give Luigi a new adventure in the upcoming Nintendo Switch title Luigi’s Mansion 3. After receiving an invitation to the Last Resort hotel, this Mario brother must save his friends with the power of the Poltergust G-00. Unlike previous entries, this title will feature an open-ended level structure, with each floor of this hotel based around a different theme. We’re looking forward to experiencing the larger scale of this title.

Luigi’s Mansion 3 will come out for the Nintendo Switch on October 31.

Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint

Ubisoft Paris is trying their hand at the Ghost Recon franchise with the upcoming release of Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint. Set on the fictional Auroa island, players fill in the shoes of Lieutenant Colonel Anthony “Nomad” Perryman as they set out to investigate disturbances that have been brought about using Skell Technology. Much like previous entries, this one features an open world environment, and players can utilize four different character classes. We’re especially looking forward to this title’s emphasis on survival.

Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint will come out for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on October 4.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare

Infinity Ward is back at the helm with the release of Activision’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. A soft reboot of the series, the game will focus on both realism and will pay host to tactically-based moral choices. The multiplayer content will also feature a tactical slant, with both map exploration and door breaching being woven in. We’re looking forward to trying out the “Ground War” mode, which will feature over 100 players.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will come out for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on October 25.

The Outer Worlds

Developed by Obsidian Entertainment and published by Private Division, The Outer Worlds is set to release in October. Much like the studio’s other titles, players will be able to create a character to their liking. From there, they can use a ship as a base of operations and can man a number of different, unique dialog decisions. We’re especially looking forward to diving into the title’s branching story.

The Outer Worlds will come out for the PlayStation …

Terminator is coming to Mortal Kombat 11

The Mortal Kombat series has plenty of characters that have appeared on one or several games since the first Mortal Kombat was launched in 1992. So many that its lore has inspired films, comic books, and television series, becoming one of the most popular fighting video games franchises in the history of video games. Because of that, many of you will find surprising that the new playable character in Mortal Kombat 11 is no other than the Terminator, which has absolutely nothing to do with the Mortal Kombat universe. The official Terminator gameplay trailer has been published by developer NetherRealm Studios and it looks really impressive, so you might not be so worried about if it fits Mortal Kombat lore or not when you play it.

Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Terminator, the T-800, is joining the list of characters available in Mortal Kombat 11. As you can see in the video, the representation of the fan-favorite killer robot in Terminator: Dark Fate is quite accurate. The Terminator is able to wield a sawed-off shotgun and when he has been severely damaged the endoskeleton inside his body seems to be able to continue fighting, making him as much of a recurring nightmare as he was in James Cameron’s film from 1984.

The Terminator will be available in Mortal Kombat 11 on October 8 for those that own the Mortal Kombat 11 Kombat Pack. The pack also gives you access to Shang Tsung, Nightwolf and three other characters that will be unlocked in the following months, namelySindel, Spawn, and the Joker. If you don’t want all the extra fighters and skins included in the pack you can still purchase the Terminator separately, but you will have to wait for a week longer.

As usual, feel free to use out comparator if you want to find the best prices to buy Mortal Kombat 11 or Mortal Kombat 11 Kombat Pack.

Apex Legends’ Season 3 starts today

The free-to-play Battle Royale from Respawn Entertainment continues expanding and adding more content as time moves on. Today we will see the release of the third season of Apex legends. With the name of Meltdown, this new season is bringing a new map, a new weapon, and another playable Legend that raises the number of available characters in the game to eleven.

The new map is located on a new planet, the burning cold World’s Edge, a frozen piece of rock with a very intense volcanic activity where being aware of the deadly environmental conditions will be necessary, that is, unless you want to end swimming in a river of lava.

Crypto is a surveillance specialist that uses drones to keep track of his enemies, only choosing to act when he has the upper hand. His tactical ability allows him to deploy a remotely-controlled drone that can be piloted and used to ping enemies. The targets will continue pinned while the drone is in the air, but it can be destroyed, and enemies will know when they are pinned. Crypto’s passive ability is Neurolink, and it allows all the members in his team to see any enemy that is in a 30-meter radius of the drone while it’s flying, even through barriers. Finally, as his ultimate ability, Crypto can send his drone to any location and activate a powerful EMP charge that will damage shields, neutralize traps, and slow the movement of anyone inside its blast radius.

Apex Legends‘ Season 3 will also introduce a new weapon, the Charge Rife. It’s a very powerful gun able to project a deadly energy beam. Although its reload time is moderately long, it compensates for this with great damage.

This season, Apex Legends is also getting a new Battle Pass full of rewards, and the Ranked Leagues Series 2 also starts today with a few important changes to the kill count score and the assists on kills that you can see here.

With the start of this season, Apex Legends confirms has consolidated its well-earned place as a reference among the competitive Battle Royale games, even though Fortnite has managed to stay at the top.

Nacon PlayStation 4 Controller Review

Sony’s long-standing DualShock design is a staple of the PlayStation brand, but it’s not the only design on the market. Microsoft’s asymmetric approach has long been a point of controversy between the two corners of the gaming camps, but Nacon’s Asymmetric PlayStation 4 Controller looks to offer the best of both worlds.

I should probably mention that I’m a PlayStation guy, and I have been since the original release of the first PlayStation. That being said, I’m not affront to the wonders of Xbox either, having had an amazing time with the recently released absolutely badass Gears 5. However, my choice of console is based entirely on the game selection available, I’ve always felt more comfortable using the asymmetric design usually associated with Xbox.

So you can imagine my delight at receiving a product that worked both for my console of choice, and with my design of choice. Nacon’s Asymmetric PS4 Controller has some odd quirks and design choices, so let’s dive into it.

Nacon Asymmetric PS4 Controller Review

Controller Comparison

Straight out of the box, Nacon’s latest product features a sleek design and a high quality finish. It’s slightly heavier than Sony’s DualShock 4 controllers, and slightly lighter than the traditional Xbox One controller. A matte finish does cheapen the visual design slightly but that’s more a personal preference than a flaw. Playing around with the pad in my hands felt great; it doesn’t have that hollow, plastic feel that’s present with a lot of its competitors, and the buttons all fit perfectly in my natural resting posture.

Setting up Nacon’s Asymmetric PlayStation 4 controller is simple. You plug in the provided USB device into the PlayStation, sync it up with the controller, and you’re good to go. Wait, a USB stick? Here’s where we get to one of the more bizarre features .

The controller supports both wired and wireless play out of the box, but it requires a USB stick to work with the PlayStation 4. If you’re anything like me, USB real estate is a valuable commodity so this could definitely be a concern when purchasing the product. Initially, I was not a fan. I already have two charging docks plugged in to the front of my PlayStation 4, both docks supporting two controllers at a time, and I wasn’t overly eager on losing the ability to charge two controllers just to play with one.

However the dual functionality of the device quickly became one of its best selling points. As well as using the controller on the PlayStation 4, the process to linking it directly to your PC is much of the same. I had already purchased an Xbox One controller for my PC, but had I not, this would have been fantastic value. Having my preferred pad design, support for my main console, and as an option for the PC, at this retail price it’s a bargain.

Despite being an officially supported product that is licensed by Sony for use with the PlayStation 4, Nacon’s variation does suffer with, well, a lack of support with some standard features of the original DualShock. You are not able to turn off the controller using the PlayStation’s dashboard interface, and the on-screen battery indicator is not able to …

Borderlands 3 Review – Deathconciousness

Story 344345103

**SIDENOTE: This review of Borderlands 3 and its content is based entirely around a playthough with Moze. This may make an impact in whatever critiques I have to say about the gameplay.

Also, beware of minor/major spoilers. They’re necessary to talk about.**

This series that needs no introduction, I believe. Gearbox’s unprecedented hit saw unimaginable success in 2009, with its second entry only multiplying in fame. Aside from those, Gearbox has on other projects and franchises, including the recent Battleborn, Duke Nukem Forever, and Aliens: Colonial Marines.

An in-engine screenshot of Borderlands 3, showcasing a Tink, a masked Fanatic Bandit, and a Gale Hog.

You play as one of four mercenaries who have come to Pandora once again for the promises of vaults. Right away, you are treated to contempt by one God-Queen Tyreen, a former streamer on the ECHOnet who has managed to create a planet-wide following by the name of “Children Of the Vault”. Together with her parasite brother Troy, they’re both planning to open several vaults dotted around the galaxy– with a final “Great Vault” being rumored to open after all that– and you have to gather a “Best Of” team to stop them.

Now, something about this plot seems almost… similar? I dare say one would get a certain sense of déjà vu emanating from this plotline, because it’s the same thing as the previous three games, including Tales From The Borderlands. One would say, argue, and defend that narrative isn’t Borderlands strong suit, but that’s a point I want to come back later.

Before all that however, there’s the gameplay to talk about, in all of its generic flavors. If you came here looking for the Borderlands experience to end all Borderlands experiences, then you came to the right place. Borderlands 3 is full of slightly visceral violent combat with a hint of strategy and insane frame-rate drops when you decide to panic ult .

An in-engine screenshot of Borderlands 3, showcasing Amaru the Siren riding in a one-wheeled vehicle known as the Cyclone.

This is not without slight innovations made, despite their cynical execution. Sliding has finally made its way into the last AAA FPS franchise, but it’s not really something you’d use in any context. Borderlands A.I. is fairly accurate, and since you’ll mostly be dealing with hitscan weaponry, it’s just going to be another way you get hit. That is, however, unless you use it to find cover, which… no. I wanna feel like the righteous bad-ass the press kit promised I’d be.

Weapon manufacturers have also seen a massive overhaul, which tends to over-complicate what was originally a simple procedure. They’re all still here– Atlas, Vladof, Maliwan, Hyperion, Jakobs, etc. — but now they’re dedicated to making specific weaponry designed to add several thin tactical layers. For example, Atlas only makes inaccurate weaponry that needs a tracker dart placed on the enemy in order to hit properly. Maliwan only makes elemental weapons that you have to charge up with each shot or burst in order to gain their full potential. Jakobs only makes coachguns, single-shot repeaters and revolvers that rely on critical hits for their best outcomes, so on and so forth.

An in-engine screenshot of Borderlands 3, showcasing FL4K, The Beastmaster, with his pet Spiderant.

In truth, this is a genius way to actually flesh out the weapon manufacturers, which have a much stronger placeholder in the world of Borderlands than you’d think. If you …
