A Total War Saga: Troy has been officially announced

We are still enjoying the awesome gameplay of Total War: Three Kingdoms and Creative Assembly has decided to deny us any kind of rest with the announcement of the new installment in the series. It was leaked a few hours before the official announcement but A Total War Saga: Troy is the upcoming title that will be part of the one of the most popular strategy series.

This time it’s going to be complicated to decide if A Total War Saga: Troy is a title that follows history accurately or not, pretty much because there is no record of the war of Troy really happening, and the game will take inspiration on Homer’s Illiad. We are certain that the developers will use this fact to deliver a fascinating story while, at the same time, trying to be as true as possible to the warfare methods used in that era.

According to Creative Assembly press release on the matter we will be the ones to decide if we follow history as it was narrated by Homer or forge a new path for our destiny.

“Inspired by Homer’s Iliad, Troy will let you forge a heroic legacy in the late Bronze Age, the furthest back in time the critically acclaimed franchise has ever traveled. The fate of Aegean civilization will be in your hands; each choice you make will shape the lands from the mythical heights of Mount Olympus to the arid deserts of Lemnos. Experience history as it may have happened or shape the legend for yourself in this unique chapter of Total War.”

On the gameplay side, we can expect the usual features present in other Total War titles but we can assume that the hero-driven gameplay that is present in Total War: Three Kingdoms will probably be in this new game too, since it would be in line with the relevance that Homer gives to certain powerful individuals in his tale.

A Total War Saga: Troy will be released next year on PC through Steam, but no release date has been revealed so far.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, requirements to play on PC are revealed

While the first beta phase of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare went off without a hitch, or almost, if we put aside the lack of mini-map that has caused a strong reaction from the players, the second phase is about to start. Early access will begin as early as 7:00 pm today for players who have pre-ordered the game on PC or Xbox One, as well as for all PS4 players. The rest of the players will be able to enjoy it in two days, on September 21st.

With the arrival of PC players, it is logical that Activision has unveiled the minimum and recommended configurations to play Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. And the good news is that you will not need to have a state-of-the-art PC to play it.

MINIMUM CONFIGURATION
  •     OS: Windows 7 SP1 64 bit
  •     CPU: Intel Core i5-2500K or AMD equivalent
  •     GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 670 2GB / GTX 1650 4GB or AMD Radeon HD 7950
  •     RAM: 8 GB
  •     HDD: 45 GB
RECOMMENDED CONFIGURATION
  •     OS: Windows 10 64 bit
  •     CPU: Intel Core i7-4770K or AMD equivalent
  •     GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 970 4GB / GTX 1660 6GB or ADM Radeon R9 390 / AMD Radeon RX 580
  •     RAM: 16 GB
  •     HDD: 45 GB

These configurations have been announced for the beta, but they should logically not change for the final version of the game.

In parallel, after announcing that Ground War mode would be part of the beta this weekend, Activision wants to test the cross-play. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will offer players to compete regardless of their platform, and this will also affect the beta of this weekend. The cross-play between PCs and consoles is always scary when it comes to an FPS, as this gives a considerable advantage to PC players. But Activision decided to do it right, grouping players by type of controller. By default, you will be able to play against players of any platform, as long as you use the same device, either a gamepad or the keyboard/mouse combo, also compatible on Xbox One and PC. It’s a safe bet that players playing the gamepad will be mostly console players. You can also change theses options if you decide to play against any player. Finally, know that if the cross-play does not appeal to you, it is quite possible to disable it.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will be released on October 25 on PS4, PC and Xbox One. To get it at the best price, visit our comparator.

Daymare: 1998, the best survival horror inspired by RE2, is available now

In the beginning, Resident Evil 2 Reborn was a fan-made project that aimed to create a modernized version of the classic survival-horror title from Capcom. There was no problem with that until Capcom announced its own official Resident Evil 2 remake and then the fans that had gathered to form Invader Studio decided to turn their first game into something different. That’s how Daymare: 1998 has come to life.

Invader Studio has put a lot of efforts into making Daymare: 1998 something different to Resident Evil 2, but making comparisons is unavoidable if you know where the game is coming from. A facility infected by a biological agent, puzzles, inventory management… All those are things that both games share, but despite the common things, Daymare: 1998 is not Resident Evil 2, and even if it can feel quite familiar, it still manages to deliver a great survival horror experience that the fans of the genre will love.

Daymare: 1998 – This is not Raccoon City

Daymare: 1998 follows the story of an elite soldier, a helicopter pilot, and a forest ranger as they are sent to investigate an incident with an experimental chemical weapon in a military facility. As the story progresses tension will escalate and you will discover that the inhabitants of the nearby town have been transformed into something quite different from peaceful bystanders.

Scarcity of resources, bloodthirsty monsters, and environmental puzzles are some of the features that give shape to Daymare: 1998, a title where the enemies you face really feel like a threat, and you will be immersed in an oppressive atmosphere that perfectly recreates the iconic horror titles from the ’90s.

You can check out by yourself everything that Daymare: 1998 has to offer. There is a demo available on Steam that you can download and play for free, but if you decide to buy the game just visit our comparator to find the best price. Daymare: 1998 is available on PC but we should see console versions in the future.

Destiny 2 changes course with Shadowkeep

This year 2019 has been prolific in changes for Bungie, and therefore Destiny 2. Indeed, the sequel to Destiny, released in 2017, is about to undergo a change in size. Last January, we learned that the idyll between Bungie and Activision Blizzard was coming to an end, which caused, rightly, serious concerns among players. But all’s well that ends well, since after Destiny 2 leaves the BattleNet launcher, it will join Steam. And the icing on the cake is that the base game will become free-to-play on October 1, date when we will release the Shadowkeep expansion too.

Bungie has just released a video in the form of a developer documentary, in which they explain their plans for the future of Destiny 2. The first thing to note is Bungie’s willingness to work with players, being attentive to feedback, but also to offer a long-term experience. Destiny 2 seems to take a direction similar to some games like Guild Wars 2, which, if it was paid when it launched, later became free-to-play with paid expansions.

We also learn a little more about the Shadowkeep expansion, which will take us to the Moon, where Eris seems to have made an important discovery. We will face the Nightmares, which are materializations of the trauma of the Guardians. Shadowkeep will also bring a larger RPG dimension, greatly increasing the importance of the equipment and its stats with the 2.0 armor. New weapons will also be available, in addition to a host of new content with the arrival of the next season.

Destiny 2 – Roadmap of the new season

Big changes seem to be on the way for Destiny 2. After Bungie has obtained full freedom of action on its game we are bound to see even more changes regarding other aspects which will undoubtedly delight fans of the game, like the fact of Year 2 Pass becoming available to all players who have purchased the Forsaken expansion.

The new Trine 4 video reveals the story of Prince Selius

Modus Game has published a new Trine 4 video that gives us some insight into the story of one of the main characters in the game and the one that drives the new adventure of our three favorite heroes: Prince Selius. The trailer also serves as an advance of Trine 4 previous to its launch, which is coming next month.

In the fourth installment of the Trine series, our heroes will gather to save the world once more. Amadeus, Pontius, and Zoya will have to find Prince Selius, who suffers from intensely dark dreams. That wouldn’t be too much of a problem if his innate magical talents wouldn’t be allowing monstrous nightmares to slip into the real world to wreak havoc and terrorize the kingdom. To resolve this dire situation, our heroes will have to progress through a series of levels facing the nightmares that the Prince leaves behind as he is being chased.

As you can see in the video, Trine 4 gameplay will offer us the best features of the previous titles in the series with a lot of dynamic puzzles, a captivating story, a revamped combat system and plenty of different skills to customize the heroes. Trine 4 will also feature local and online multiplayer for up to four players, so you will be able to share all the fun with your friends.

Trine 4 – Pontius facing some nightmares

All those that were not quite happy with the introduction of three dimensions in the series with the launch of Trine 3: The Artifacts of Power will be glad to know that Trine 4 is going back to the original format of the series, leaving behind the 3D and returning to 2.5D for an improved experience.

The release of Trine 4: The Nightmare Prince is scheduled for October 8 on PlayStation 4, PC, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. You can find the best prices to buy it on our comparator anytime.

Rockstar Games has decided to join the ranks of the video games companies that have their own launcher. We have seen it happening with a few other big companies like Blizzard, Bethesda or Ubisoft, which have their own application for PC that you can use to manage the settings and launch games. In the case of Battle.net app, for example, you can use it to patch and launch titles like World of Warcraft, Overwatch, Hearthstone, Diablo 3 and even some recent Call of Duty games from Activision.

On the occasion of this release, you can get Grand Theft Auto San Andreas for free for a limited time. All you have to do to claim the game is downloading Rockstar Games Launcher from the official website and installing it.

GTA San Andreas is not the latest title in the series, but it’s still a great open-world adventure that has sold over 27 million copies. It takes place in 1992 in the fictional state of San Andreas, which is based on California and Nevada. The protagonist of the game is Carl “CJ” Johnson, a former gang member that returns to Los Santos after learning about the murder of his mother. As he arrives at the city he finds himself framed for a crime he has not committed and immersed in an adventure that will lead him to save his family and take control of the streets.

Borderlands 3 Review

Loot, shoot, repeat. The tried and tested formula of Borderlands returns alongside the wacky comedy, larger-than-life characters, and iconic cel-shaded graphics. Borderlands 3 looks to build on the successful formula of its predecessors but times have changed. Does it stack up to the more modern take on the looter shooter genre? Let’s find out.

Borderlands 3 Review

In Borderlands 3, players take on the role of Sirens, expert treasure hunters of a futuristic era with some magical powers to boot. Traveling from planet to planet, you’re tasked with foiling a galactic plot to destroy the universe. Sounds simple enough. On the way you’re introduced to a cast of colorful characters and antagonists, each of which seems to be even more annoying than the last. While Borderlands 3 does have an intriguing story, it’s difficult to invest in world where even destruction on a galactic scale is mocked, a mere joke.

Borderlands 3 Review

Unfortunately, that’s about as deep as the plot goes. While I’m sure many fans would disagree, I’ve never been a fan of Borderlands’ comedic approach to delivering the narrative. Poor one-liners, unnecessarily long dialogue for a crappy punchline, references to memes of yesteryear, it just felt required. It’s expected for the characters to not take anything seriously, for everything to be a bit of fun and a laugh but in terms of the latter, I failed to even snigger throughout the game.

Borderlands 3 does attempt to raise the stakes here and there, and the maniacal Calypso Twins make the odd appearance to conjure some level of emotional investment, but it’s difficult to care when you’re sidelined the entire time and everyone’s tossing around jokes. At the points you could argue as serious, my character simply disappeared. Following a tense boss battle the infamous twins appear to kill, capture, or otherwise maim an ally and where’s the protagonist? No idea, no explanation, you’re just not there.

Borderlands 3 Review

Distinguishing itself from the competition, Borderlands 3 still dominates the genre with its weapon variety and innovative mechanics, although unfortunately I am unable to verify the games claim to having over a billion guns. As with previous games in the series, Borderlands 3 uses a random generator algorithm to create guns and equipment on the fly. Some of these changes can be subtle, influencing things such as weapon accuracy or clip size, but others elements of RNG goodness can be much more substantial.

This random mixture of weapons can be fantastic, truly rewarding and exciting when you discover a devastating new weapon with a bundle of powerful perks but, it can also become quite frustrating in places. Throughout my entire time in Borderlands 3 I was searching for something simple, almost elegant in its simplicity compared to the arsenal of weapons at my disposal, an Assault Rifle. I wouldn’t consider that request unworldly, it’s a staple in the shooting genre, but could I find what I needed?

Borderlands 3 Review

In a word, no. Not for a long time. Sure, the game was awash with Assault Rifle after Assault Rifle, but one would suffer with a magazine capacity of 12, another would fire single bullets that stick to targets and explode in a semi-auto fashion, while another would be a great Assault Rifle with an insanely ridiculous …
