Heavy Rain offers a demo on PC

We told you in a previous article that Quantic Dreams had announced at the GDC the release of three of its emblematic games on PC. As a reminder, those were Heavy Rain, Beyond: Two Souls, and Detroit: Become Human. At the time of the announcement no specific release date had been revealed, it was only known that the three games would launch as a temporary exclusive on Epic Game Store in the course of the year 2019. The information has been clarified since then and now we know that Heavy Rain will be released on June 24, Beyond: Two Souls on July 22, and Detroit: Become Human should arrive in the fall of 2019. It was also announced that each of the three narrative games will have a demo about a month before their respective releases.

Heavy Rain, available on PC on June 24, 2019

Today, a demo of Heavy Rain is to be available at 5 pm on the store of Epic Games. The demo of forty minutes will allow you to discover the first two chapters of the story. The PS4 version has already benefited from some graphics enhancements and the PC version should offer graphics in 4K and 60fps.

Originally released in 2010 exclusively on PS3, then in 2016 on PS4, Heavy Rain is a narrative-based game, often referred to as an interactive film. Heavy Rain is like a thriller, in which you will play four different characters by turns to solve a sordid affair.

A serial killer terrorizes the east coast of the United States while the investigation leads nowhere. Nicknamed the “Killer of origamis”, because of its mode of operation, the murderer kidnaps its victims who are young boys, and then he drowns them in rainwater and then abandons them leaving an orchid and an origami. The four protagonists will have to do everything they can to stop the killer as soon as possible, facing choices that can have serious consequences. Your choices are crucial in Heavy Rain since they will directly influence the next events. Seven alternative ends are also available, depending on your actions throughout the game.

Heavy Rain is already available on PS3, and PS4. It will be released on June 24 on PC through Epic Games Store.

Overwatch is getting a Replay feature

Cool move, play that again.

Overwatch’ Replay feature is here.

Blizzard announced that Overwatch has added a new replay feature to the game. Players can now go back to their previous matches and watch their actions from any perspective. The new feature is available on the Public Test Realm for PC and will be available for all versions of the game soon.

According to the official website, players can control the camera and watch replays in both first-person perspective and third-person perspectives, they can also take the bird’s-eye view if they want. The actions can also be sped up or slowed down, and one last thing: the UI can be taken out.

The Replay feature can be accessed from the Player Profile page, you will see a new tab in there. The game will store up to ten previous matches that you have had in all modes except for Tutorials and Practice Range modes. The feature will let you use a map overlay like the one in Overwatch League matches, and place bookmarks and static cameras in the spots you want to watch your match over and over again.

It’s about time for Overwatch to have a Reply feature. You can now use it to improve your gameplay, observe the strategies of your opponents, or just take a look again at your awesome performance.

Here are some of tips for using Replay:

  • Use the map overlay (Ctrl+I) if you want to watch a match. This will help you understand how team fights are done.
  • Use the map overlay to get the best view. Place your camera in the sky and have a straight look down at the ground.

    Look at that view!

  • Set up cameras in static locations to view fights from multiple perspectives. Bookmark your locations for each new match as well.
  • Do not overuse the slow motion. Slow down the dramatic and impactful moments in the fight.

Cyberpunk 2077 demo will be shown at E3

It would seem that something like a game like Cyberpunk 2077 appearing during the E3 would be a no brainer for the majority of the people. But if you think about it there are some companies that decided to show their games only during private passes limited to a certain number of people or available only to the press. CD Project RED has confirmed that their upcoming title will be available to the public during the E3 next month, and that´s great news because it guarantees that we all will get to see more footage of the game. On the bad side, those lucky enough to attend to one of the most important video games events in the world this year won’t be able to give a try to a demo of Cyberpunk 2077, and that´s a real shame.

First, Cyberpunk 2077 game director Adam Badowsky revealed through a post on Twitter that they will be present in the Public Zone of the E3, and even shared a video of their location inside Los Angeles Convention Center.

Later, to try to put a stop a to all the speculation and inquiries about if Cyberpunk 2077 would be playable or not during the E3, community lead of the game Marcin Momot revealed that the demo won’t be playable.

I guess it´s not much, but it’s much better than a press-only event. It doesn´t really make much of a difference for the people not attending to the event, even more, it’s rather annoying if what you get to try is an unfinished version of the game that will be far different from the final product. Cyberpunk 2077 still has quite a few development months ahead of it before the game launches.

It´s not like getting feedback from the people is bad but sometimes it can be something very complicated to handle. If you have the public to influence how your game should be you may end with a title that may sell a bit better but that could be quite far from what you originally intended to create. If you ignore the feedback, you could just miss a great opportunity to successfully deliver a game that pleases the players and that could be even worse. Finding the balance between both is the key to success, and the guys from CD Project RED seem to have their own formula for cyberpunk 2077. We all can agree that it has worked for them pretty well so far, you just have to look at the evolution of The Witcher franchise over the years. We can just only hope that Cyberpunk 2077 is as good as The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, if not better.

Until more info about the game is revealed you can enjoy 48 minutes of Cyberpunk 2077 gameplay in the following …

Dead Island 2 is not that dead apparently

Five years after the initial announcement and yet they still keep saying, ‘Stay tuned.’

Stay tuned for Dead Island 2!

THQ Nordic is pretty busy with all the 80 games they have in development, Dead Island 2 including. It has been half a decade since it was announced and has had several development setbacks to the point that many thought it was being cancelled. But voila! It’s is apparently not.

According to the THQ Nordic financial report call that Dead Island 2 is still on the works. In the same report, they confirmed that it’s coming to PC, PS4, and Xbox One.

We had the first look of its gameplay in Gamescon 2014. Check out the preview below.

Dead Island 2 was originally announced with Spec Ops: The Line under Yager studio but by the next year, 2015, publisher Deep Silver parted ways with Yager. In 2016, it was announced that the game was passed to Sumo Digital. By 2018, Deep Silver was acquired by THQ Nordic and just this week, the developer made their statement of its revival along with the Dead Island 2’s logo.

There has been no other information given aside from that. Years back it was said that it’s going to be melee combat mixed with RPG game elements. Deep Silver said that it’s going to feature some never-before-seen handcrafted weapons. It has also been described as a game with the new-gen multiplayer experience. Players will be taken to the infamous Golden Gate Bridge of San Francisco to Venice Beach.

However, we are yet to see the changes that have happened to Dead Island 2 in the course of its development. There’s been no news whether we’ll be seeing Dead Island 2 in E3 2019 next month. That’s it folks, Dead Island 2 is not dead – just on the works.

Hiveswap Act 2 is in “”Active Development”

Story 323864452

Those of us familiar with Hiveswap‘s source material will be familiar with long pauses between content, and in the grand tradition of the series, we’re rapidly approaching the two-year anniversary of Hiveswap Act One with little to no news on Act Two, until today. A backers-only announcement was released and posted by a tumblr called homestuck-arts. The announcement apologized for the radio silence, and announced that Act Two was in “active development”, with the script, art, and design work nearly finished. They also noted that they’re using a staggered development process wherein programming would not begin until late in the art and writing phase, and art and writing would begin for Act Three during the programming phase of Act Two. They ended with a note that they’d have more on Act Two “soon”, and promised gameplay footage as soon as it was available.

Hiveswap Act One featured protagonist Joey Claire being sent to the violent planet of Alternia, with the first section of the game showing her switch places with an Alternian Troll who’d end up at her house. She encourages other protagonist Xefros to gain confidence as the planet marches towards revolution. Act Two will presumably have her brother Jude dealing with the troll who ended up at their house.

Earlier news confirmed that Undertale‘s Toby Fox would return to write music, as well as James Roach, who was originally featured on an official fan album and eventually graduated to do formal music for Hiveswap. Since the release of Act One, What Pumpkin and Viz Media have released a series of parody dating friendship simulators featuring characters who would be featured in later Acts, as well as not one but two lengthy epilogues for the source material Homestuck. Still no news has been revealed about the mysterious project Hauntswitch.
