Gorytale Review

Saccharine sweets meets blood and gore with NYAARGH!’s new FPS Gorytale. Featuring enough vulgarity and violence to make a nun blush, should you get to blasting away the sugary horde?

Gorytale Review

After a brutal soldier with a potty mouth dies, he ends up at the pearly gates, waiting to be judged. However, he has led a life that has dished out pain, misery, and hate to others, and must now atone for his actions. However, he must serve his sentence in his own version of hell – a Candyland full of sentient marshmallows, donuts, watermelon slices, flying spaghetti monsters, and other things that want them to join their happy cult.

Not taking this threat sitting down, players will fight their way through any and all threats. Much like the Serious Sam series, the game has one objective – kill them all. A handful of traditional levels that require players to reach the portal at the end have been included, along with arena-based zones with a set amount of foot soldiers that need to be taken down.

This template has been done countless times in the genre, but what is here gets the job done. Weaponry varies from the traditional (shotguns, assault rifles) to the outlandish (exploding toasters, swordfish), and each one packs a serious punch. Each weapon has a secondary function as well – there’s even a designated button that gives enemies an F-There is an innate thrill to firing off a massive shotgun blast, causing multiple smiling latte cups explode in the process. It might be mindless, but it still proves to be an entertaining affair.

Along the way players can collect coins, which can then be used to upgrade your weaponry. The arsenal found in Gorytale is a bit on the small side, but the upgrades available make a noticeable difference. It can be a bit of a grind to max out the ability of each one, but later enemies prove to be bullet sponges, nevermind the larger-than-life bosses. Those looking to reach the end of the title (which takes around two hours) best squirrel away this currency.

Outside of the main story mode, players can also jump into one of the three Arena modes this game has to offer. A free-for-all with the enemies, this is a welcome addition that helps embody the frantic spirit of this shooter.

Just be warned that some elements of Gorytale are less than polished. The level design in certain areas is less than intuitive, with steep drops and jelly spots that cause some awkward jumping. The way the enemies rush at the player too can be cumbersome as well – it is far too easy to get boxed in when dozens of enemies all rush the player at once. Some may see it as a challenge, but more often than not the player is simply not equipped for the job.

Gorytale might not be a polished affair, but it does offer mindless shooting entertainment. Those that don’t mind turning their brain off can enjoy a shooter than trades aesthetics for sheer mayhem.

This review of Gorytale was done on the PC. The game was purchased digitally.

Borderlands 3 is getting new content next month

Bloody Harvest Halloween event is still going on in Borderlands 3 and it will continue until December, but Gearbox is not shy of announcing new content for their shooter and they have revealed a new mission that will be available next month. Takedown at Maliwan’s Blacksite will pit players against the forces of Katagawa’s company in an adventure that will require the cooperation of several players to complete. This new content drop was revealed during the second episode of The Borderlands Show web series that you can watch below.

Takedown at Maliwan’s Blacksite is a mission tailored for a group of level 50 players where you will face Maliwan’s forces equipped with the latest technology developed by the weapons company. You will have to fight against new types of enemies that use weapons that you have never seen before. Those range from shields able to reflect elemental projectiles back at you to cloaking devices that will make troopers invisible, allowing them to easily position for sneak attacks on your team. Opposite to Bloody Harvest, Takedown at Maliwan’s Blacksite is a piece of content that will stay in the game permanently. The mission is tuned to last 30 to 45 minutes and if you complete it you will have the chance of getting new pieces of legendary loot, including one of the best shields in the game.

Borderlands 3 – Wotan the Invincible

You have three weeks to level up your characters to 50 and get your builds ready for this group adventure. Takedown at Maliwan’s Blacksite will be available on November 21 on all platforms.

It is expected that Gearbox keeps adding more content and DLCs to Borderlands 3 as it did with the previous installments in the Borderlands series, so if you like the game you might want to consider to buy the Borderlands 3 Season Pass to get them all with a discount. If you do not have Borderlands 3 yet you can take part in the giveaway we are currently holding to have a chance of getting it for free, or you can visit our comparator anytime to find the best prices for it.

How To Beat The T Rex In Luigi’s Mansion 3

How To Beat The T Rex In Luigi's Mansion 3
The boss of the 9th floor in Luigi’s Mansion 3 is a large T Rex. Check out this guide to find out how to beat the T Rex in Luigi’s Mansion 3. This fight is another simple one when you figure out what you need to do.

How To Beat The T Rex In Luigi’s Mansion 3

The boss basically has four phases you need to deal with.

The first phase is simple; shoot one egg at him then use the other egg on his belly.

Phase two there is only one egg. You need to place Gooigi near the boss so he can be eaten. When Gooigi is getting eaten, use the other egg on the bosses belly to get to the next stage.

Phase three has the boss rampaging around. Use the debris that you can shoot one the bosses belly. You can get underneath it pretty easily, just don’t stay there too long. After you hit the boss, it will likely stomp or sweep its tail at you. You will have to hit it four or five times before it breaks.

The last phase is the ghost that was hiding inside. If you are too close, he will fast club at you and you cannot do anything. Keep your distance and he will do a charge slam attack. This sends a shockwave which you will need to jump. After you jump, rush him and blind him. When the boss is blind, suck him up and do your damage. This will take three or four slam sessions to finish. When the boss is dead, collect the button and move on.

How To Get The Elevator Button From The Rat In Luigi’s Mansion 3

How To Get The Elevator Button From The Rat In Luigi's Mansion 3
After beating a certain boss in Luigi’s Mansion 3, a rat comes and steals your elevator button. Check out this guide to find out how to get the elevator button from the rat in Luigi’s Mansion 3. If you don’t stop the rat, you can’t progress in the game.

How To Get The Elevator Button From The Rat In Luigi’s Mansion 3

After beating the chef boss, you will have to collect your button from a rat in the dining room. To lure him out of his hole you will need to place some cheese outside of it. Make sure to place it far enough away that the rat can’t just run back in as you approach. If you are like me, you probably tried to suck the rat up. When it is on top of the cheese, approach and do a charged up flash light attack to destroy the rat. The button will drop and another rat takes off with it. This time you will have to chase it into a bathroom. If you can’t get into the left bathroom, go to the right bathroom and use Gooigi to get to the other side. Open the stall with the rats, flashlight them, and collect your elevator button.

How To Beat The Floor 7 Boss In Luigi’s Mansion 3

How To Beat The Floor 7 Boss In Luigi's Mansion 3
The Garden boss on Floor 7 of Luigi’s Mansion is one of the more tricky battles in the game. Check out this guide to find out how to beat the floor 7 boss in Luigi’s Mansion 3. Once you figure out the trick it is a simple fight.

How To Beat The Garden Boss In Luigi’s Mansion 3

To beat the Garden boss you should learn its pattern first. It will do a bite attack from up above first, followed bu a lunge attack or a swipe attack. You need to dodge the bite attack from above and then run to one of the fully grown plants in the area. The idea is to get the plant to lunge attack the large orange plants and get him stuck for a few seconds. When the boss is stuck, grab the saw with your vacuum and proceed to cut the stalk of the plant. You can get it done in one shot if you are quick enough. You will have to do this three or four times before you completely drain the bosses hp though. When he is low on hp, 25% or so, the plant will rage a bit more and change attack patterns. For me, it did three swipes followed by the lunge attack and I was able to catch it then. When the boss is dead, use the watering can on the vine plant to get your elevator button.
