PAX West 2019 has been the scenario chosen by Gearbox to reveal a bit more about the endgame content in Borderlands 3 but also to let us take a glimpse at what they have planned for their game after it launches on September 13.

In a previous article we already talked about the Circle of Slaughter and the Proving Grounds, but there are other things to do in Borderlands 3 once you reach max level. The game will also feature a new Mayhem Mode that is accessible once you finish the campaign. It has three different difficulties and in each of them, enemies get increased health, shields, and armor, while you get bonus cash, Eridium, experience gains, and chances for better loot. As you explore different planets in this mode, several Mayhem Mods can be applied. These are modifications of certain gameplay mechanics that will force you to adapt your gameplay style to circumstances like increased weapon damage for the enemies or reduced bullet damage for the players.

Also, Guardian Ranks will be also unlocked once you finish the campaign for the first time in Borderlands 3. As you play the game you will receive experience and gain Guardian Tokens that you can use to buy different bonus stats and passive in-game buffs across three different trees.

Borderlands 3 – Guardian Ranks

Experienced Borderlands players will be glad to know that the True Vault Hunter Mode will be back in Borderlands 3. In Borderlands 2 it was a higher difficulty mode that would open to the player the main story was finished. It featured more challenging enemies and new loot, which in Borderlands means more customization options for your character as you gain more levels and unlock more skills to combine their effects with the different weapon capabilities.

Borderlands 3 will provide players with plenty of hours of frenetic gameplay and billions of guns to use, but Gearbox has even more content in storage for the players that will be released progressively after the launch. You just need to take a peek at what’s coming in the following roadmap panel to realize that we will have Borderlands 3 for a long time.
