Spring has officially sprung in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, and with it comes a slew of new gardening themed activities to dive into with a free content update available April 23rd.
Stick with us if you want to read the details, or watch Nintendo’s lil’ video showcase for the update here:
A new gardening shop run by Lief the sloth will crop up on your island’s plaza from time to time to provide players with all the flowers and greenery to let their island paradise flourish. He’s got flowers and, wait for it, bushes! At long last players can plant shrubs to erect natural hedgerows – a much prettier way to cordon off your precious flower beds from stompy villagers.
Redd also makes a return with his dodgy art shop. Instead of pitching a shifty tent, he moors up on your island’s pier in an appropriately dingy boat. Or as he likes to call it ‘Jolly Redd’s Treasure Trawler’. He sells furniture and artwork, the latter of which can be hung up in the museum’s swanky new art gallery. Provided you don’t buy a forgery, that is…
The video also offered a roadmap for the timed events coming to the game between April and June:
- Nature Day: April 23rd – May 4th – Gardening themed Nook Mile+ challenges.
- May Day: May 1st – May 7th – New Nook Mile Islands to explore.
- International Museum Day: May 18th – May 31st – Collectable museum stamps.
- Wedding Season: June 1st – June 30th – Lets you take ceremonial pics for Cyrus and Reese’s anniversary on Harv’s Island.
Just as the daily grind started to feel like a… grind, we get more reasons to log in everyday. This update also sets a nice precedent for the future. If substantial content trickles in at a healthy rate like this then Animal Crossing fans have a lot to look forward to throughout the year.
I’m still keeping my fingers crossed for the coffee shop to make a comeback.
