Using the mouse, guide your bat to bounce the ball around the screen and break all blocks on the screen. If the ball falls beyond your bat, you’ll lose a life. Clear a screen and advance to the next level. There are 50 levels. Collect power-ups to help or hinder your play – Grow, shrink, split, catch, double bat and laser. Catch the falling points to add them to your score.

This was a real challenge for me to make, who would have a thought a simple bouncing ball hitting some bricks would be so to make?! I think (from memory) it took me around a month and a half to finish Breakit it, and after releasing it I had to do a few bug fixes and additions to make it work properly.
One of the major bugs that people came across was on level 10 or 11 (and sometimes even level 13) when the last 2 remaining blocks on screen would become ‘ghosts’ as a few people put it, the ball would just pass straight through them. I ended up using a work-around to fix this, so that if there are only 2 blocks left on screen the level will complete (this is not always the case – but it’s there as a check).

The original version featured 4 different music tracks, but sadly due to the amount of bandwidth my site is using I have had to strip it down. It’s a bit crap really and maybe one day I’ll restore it to how it’s supposed to be (once I get a higher bandwidth limit).
Breakit has proved to be very popular and I’ve received a ton of fan mail about it, and has spread to many sites around the net. Hooray!
